New Features and Updates

New privacy settings in Teams

You can now grant priority access to specific users (like your boss and your closest co-workers) within Teams. If you need to set your status to do not disturb, but would still like certain users to have access to you, simply click on your profile picture>Settings>Privacy, and you can set up the users you’d like to have priority access to you within Teams.

Ignite 2018 sessions available on-demand

Microsoft hosted their annual Ignite conference last week. Most of the sessions are recorded and can be found here, just search for your topic of choice to learn about new tools or feature sets. Remember, you may see features that we don’t have access to at UNC, it all depends on the licensing we have and the rollout schedules from Microsoft. There’s lots of great info in the sessions though, so check them out. If you have questions about certain features, you can always email with your questions.

TLS 1.2 required on 10/31/18

Microsoft will require the use of TLS 1.2 for all connections to Office 365 after October 31, 2018. TLS 1.0 and 1.1 will no longer be supported by Microsoft after this date. Most vendors are already requiring this updated encryption protocol, so the impact to UNC should be fairly minimal. You can read more about this change here.
